How To Beef Up Your Google Reader

Posted by Remi on October 26th, 2008

I spend a fair amount of time on line, browsing the news, and reading various blogs. Also, being an Entrecarder, I come across a lot of great blogs every day, which I would love to read and digg.

That said, I just cannot dedicate enough quality time during the day to read these articles. I usually send them to my Google Reader, to further consideration at a quieter time.

Problem is I do not have much free time indeed, and when I finally manage to access my Greader, I am frustrated to find a whole lot of posts there, way too many for me to catch up.

I just found an interesting post called “10 scripts to muscle up your Google Reader”, which provides great tips on how to optimize the use of Google Reader. My favorite is the “Greader to Twitter”, a feature that sends a reader post to twitter.

A must read for those of us who spend a lot of time reading on the Internet, a population that includes the Entrecarders.

The Chinese WEB Community Is Mourning

Posted by Remi on May 19th, 2008

I am an avid reader of Yang Zhao’s blog (www.168.fr), a blog that reports on the latest Chinese Tech news. Since there is a lot going on in this country, it is an invaluable source of information for people who do not read Chinese.

A funny thing is that the blog is written in French, as Yang Zhao lives and works in Paris. Welcome to a flat world!

That said, the blog offers an automatic translation to English, which seems to work, as the English text makes sense.

Yang recently reported that most of the major Chinese sites were now in black and white, in remembrance of the recent earthquakes.

Examples include search engines such as Google and Yahoo!, online news sites like Xinhua and CCTV, video sharing , etc.
